The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) hosted an induction programme for undergraduate students joining the International Foundation Programme and Bangor University Programmes. The two-day event was filled with fun activities, interaction with the staff, introduction to university life, all aiming to prepare the students for this new chapter in their lives.

The BIBF Director Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh, welcomed the students wishing them a successful academic year, realising their full potential by taking part in the institute’s various programmes, which are among the most prominent ones in the region.

“Out of our keenness to introduce new students to the sector and bridge the gap between academic and job life, this induction programme was organised in cooperation with number of leading financial institutions in the Kingdom, including, the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK)., CrediMax and Kuwait Finance House (KFH) – Bahrain,” Dr. Al Shaikh added.

He also mentioned that the induction programme included several activities aimed at shaping students’ personalities, enhancing their skills and preparing them for the university life. It also gave them an overview of the institute facilities and services, as well as the rules and regulations. ‌

On the first day, students took part in the innovation camp designed in collaboration with Injaz Bahrain. The aim was to come up with ice breaker activities to allow fresh students to mingle and from friendships prior to the start of the semester.

Students were also connected to people within the field who acted as mentors helping them come-up with creative solutions using Fintech technology. The students later pitched to the judges who were also leading professionals within the field, awarding the winning team with medals.

On the second day of the induction, students were introduced to the Academics team, learned about the policies and procedures in preparation for the upcoming semester. The BIBF’s Head of Academics Centre, Dr. Raja Bucheeri opened up the session by an inspirational speech to encourage students make the most of their time at the university during this pivotal phase in their lives. After the briefing session, students engaged in a friendly competition with awards sponsored by the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK).

Students were also introduced to a distinguished alumni group of Bangor University and University of London, who have achieved a successful career in various national institutions in Bahrain, including The Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK), and the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), sharing their university experience and how it prepared them for the professional workforce.

Finally, students were offered valuable prizes during a raffle draw by UniPal, a discount platform targeting the Bahraini student community.

Stands were also situated at the BIBF by the participating banks, to allow students to open up bank accounts and connect them to financial services and student loans, in addition to giving them discounts and offers at competitive prices.
