The BIBF Undergraduate Students Win First Place in the CFA Research Challenge 2022-2023

The Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), Mr. Rasheed Mohamed Al Maraj received the BIBF students after they won first place in the 2022-2023 Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Research Challenge. The Governor congratulated the BIBF team on this achievement, as the Institute’s team competed with many local universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The BIBF’s team of undergraduate students included Salma Al Abbasi, Mustafa Al Sayyad, Ahmed Ghazwan, Maryam Al Khawaja and Noor Al Hashemi, who chose a public company in the logistics services sector for their research.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain and Chairman of the Board of Directors of BIBF, Mr. Rasheed Mohamed Al Maraj, honored the students for this achievement and said: “I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the BIBF team for their achievement in the CFA Research Challenge. Their performance is a testament to the quality of education at the BIBF and the advanced level of its students and faculty. We are proud of this achievement and wish the students all the best in their future endeavors.”
On his part, Director of the BIBF, Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh, stated, “We are extremely proud of our students for their exceptional performance in the CFA Research Challenge. Their hard work, dedication, and exceptional analytical skills have earned them this well-deserved recognition.” He added: “The BIBF is committed to providing the highest levels of quality in education and training to its students and ensuring their preparation for successful careers in the financial sector.”
Moreover, Head of Banking & Finance Centre at the BIBF, Ms. Zeeba Askar, said, “The CFA Research Challenge is an excellent platform that provides students with an opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge to financial analysis and practical application. We are pleased with the competition results and proud of our students’ achievements. They have demonstrated their ability to compete at the highest level and represent the BIBF with distinction.”
Furthermore, Head of the Academic Centre at the BIBF, Dr. Haifaa Khalaf, commented: “The students demonstrated high-level thinking skills and exceptional analytical skills to win this challenge, which confirms the advanced academic level that the institute has reached, in line with the best global academic standards, in addition to the efforts and dedication of the students and faculty members.” She added that this achievement is a new indicator of the excellence of the institute’s students and their positive interaction with all initiatives at various local, regional, and international levels.
The Financial Analysts Research Challenge is an annual international competition that provides university students with practical experience in analyzing financial data and stocks and preparing research on investing in financial markets. The competition attracts thousands of participants from around the world and is considered one of the most prestigious competitions for university and graduate students.
