BIBF-GIG Group Launch the Islamic Insurance (Takaful) Textbook

As part of its continuous endeavour towards human capital development in the Insurance industry, the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) announced the launch of its latest textbook entitled “Takaful: Technical and Operational Aspects”, in a strategic partnership with GIG Group, represented by three of its leading companies; GIG Takaful, GIG Bahrain and GIG Kuwait, to enrich the Insurance library with a specialised and comprehensive reference in Islamic Insurance (Takaful).
With the aim of fostering the growth of the Takaful sector in Bahrain, this publication provides a comprehensive reference to Takaful and its operations, and serves as a source of valuable teaching material and indispensable information on various technical and operational aspects of Takaful dealings in the region and worldwide.
The first copy of the textbook was received by the CEO of GIG Bahrain, Dr. Abdulla Sultan, the CEO of GIG Takaful, Mr. Essam AlAnsari, at company headquarters in Seef area.
The BIBF Director, Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh stated, “The Islamic Insurance industry has witnessed continuous growth in the Kingdom in the past few years, especially being one of the first countries to establish specific Takaful regulations and has one of the highest levels of takaful penetration across the Region. Therefore, the publication of this textbook is timely and offers crucial background information and advice, invaluable for any serious player in the Takaful market.”
The CEO of GIG Bahrain, Dr. Abdulla Sultan stated, “This initiative is a testament of GIG’s leadership in the Insurance market in the MENA region, not only in terms of size but also in terms of the contribution to the intellectual development of the industry at large. We are proud to collaborate with the BIBF, the leading authority on Insurance training in the region, to launch the takaful textbook and we look forward to seeing trainees benefit from this publication.”

The textbook will be published internationally and will serve as the main textbook for one of the four modules of the Certified Islamic Insurance Practitioner (CIIP) programme. This designation is a BIBF bespoke certification in Islamic Insurance designed utilising BIBF’s expert knowledge in Islamic Finance and Insurance.
