The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), region’s premiere training and development provider, conducted a high-level awareness session on sustainable development to Eskan Bank’s staff and executives, as the first physical training at its new Auditorium in Bahrain Bay.
The awareness session provided an overview of the concept of sustainable development, environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and their implications on businesses. During the interactive workshop, Eskan Bank team had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge about sustainable development and relate to its application in the bank’s business model.
This training was conducted as part of the Sustainable Development Academy which offers various programmes to build capacity in this growing field. The Academy was launched back in May 2021 in line with the Kingdom’s commitment towards the green initiatives, and BIBF continues to update its programmes according to the recent announcements in the region such as the Net Zero target by 2060 for Bahrain.
Commenting on the success of the session, BIBF Head of Banking & Finance Centre, Ms. Zeeba Askar, CFA stated, “Interest in sustainable development is evolving at a rapid speed from governmental levels trickling down to the business world; demand for sustainable and socially-responsible practices and business is raising on both individual and institutional side. As the training arm of the Central Bank of Bahrain, the BIBF is committed to lead the reskilling and upskilling of human capital in Bahrain and the region to complement the broader national and regional sustainable development vision.”
She also added, “With Eskan Bank’s focal direction towards integrating sustainable development initiatives, they are committed to ensure that all their staff members across different levels gain an understanding on sustainability and its applications in the workplace.”
