Manama Entrepreneurship Week
Welcome to Manama Entrepreneurship Week (MEW). MEW is an event held annually presenting various events, seminars, workshops and conferences that are held in celebration of entrepreneurship, further promoting and optimizing the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem.
The BIBF is happy to partner with MEW to provide free training workshops across 4 different tracks on the 20th of October 2021.

Course 1: Sustainable Development Awareness Session

Description:
This course introduces the fundamental principles of sustainable development and its importance. It will examine the relationship between sustainability, resilience and business growth as well as introducing the different approaches to investing and lending (e.g. ESG, Impact, Ethical). The course will also shed light on international development initiatives such as the United Nations (UNEP FI, SDGs, UNFCCC, UNCTAD, etc.), Paris Agreement, Conference of Parties (COP), on the funding gap in achieving SDGs, and on the role of central banks (NGFS).
Course 2: AML Awareness

Description:
This is an introductory awareness programme where participants will be introduced to the definition and concept of Anti Money Laundering (AML) and financing terrorism (FT), the various stages of AML, and the legal and regulatory requirements and initiatives by the international, regional and local communities against Money Laundering /Terrorist Financing. In particular the guidelines and policies issued by the Kingdom of Bahrain and Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) are discussed including the essentials of customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Know Your Customer (KYC) standards.

This course provides participants with the essential understanding of the practical aspects of negotiable instruments used in the daily transactions of banks on behalf of businesses, and will also focus on the legal practices and aspects of the instruments.
Course 4: Investment & Saving Seminar

The Investment and Savings Seminar is an investment awareness programme that was established in collaboration between the BIBF and Bahrain Bourse with the purpose of increasing and enhancing investor’s awareness about the financial market.
With the objective to gradually enlighten the audience on the capital markets and investment processes, this seminar is now available, free of charge, on a monthly basis, over 3 stages:
- Beginner
- Intermediate
- Advanced
The main focus is to provide investment fundamentals and principals to enlighten the audience with key investment securities and their attributes, the process of establishing investment goals and the investment process with consideration for potential frauds.
Behavioural biases will also be briefed while focusing on investment portfolio management.
Course 5: Blockchain for Fintech

Description:
Blockchain is a core technology in FinTech. This session helps learners understand the design rationale behind the blockchain technology, and the technological and cryptographic components of a blockchain. This session also explains the variations and differences of existing major platforms and limitations.
