Abdulla Ali Al Jowder
Director, eService and Channel Development, iGA

Mr. Abdulla Al Jowder has more than 13 years of ICT experience through multiple roles and responsibilities that have helped him to gain the managerial and technical skills he possesses today. He has held various technical programming and administrative positions, beginning his career as a project coordinator. His passion for learning and self-development gave him practical experience which has helped him to improve professionally and personally, and qualified him to manage and execute national projects that are today considered essential building blocks of the Information & eGovernment Authority’s (iGA) infrastructure in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Currently holding the position of Director of eService and Channel Development, Mr. Al Jowder manages a specialized team charged with eServices and channels development, performance monitoring and enhancement. He also directs and executes several national initiatives aimed at elevating the standards of government services and improving customer satisfaction. Mr. Abdulla previously worked in a number of other iGA’s departments, where the most notable national projects he has been responsible for include the eKey project, the National Gateway Infrastructure project, the National Portal, the National Payment Platform project, the National Government Service Center Evaluation Project (taqyeem), and a number of other initiatives that had major impact both locally and regionally. He also was a member in one of the committees that worked towards reducing government expenditure on infrastructure, and a member in the joint technical team for eServices in GCC, among other technical and administrative committees.

Mr. Abdulla is leading the team behind developing and operating the BeAware Bahrain app and all of its supporting systems.

Prior to joining iGA, Mr. Abdulla worked in the scientific research field at University of Otago, New Zealand as a research assistant specialized in remote sensors networking, where he contributed to a project aimed at enabling local hospitals to monitor the vital signs of patients from their homes. Later, he joined the Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) as a program developer specialized in the integration between systems and in eServices development.

He has a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Government Policies from University of Aix-Marseille and École nationale d'administration in France, and a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering and Information Science from University of Otago, New Zealand. He also holds several professional certificates in Programming, Project Management, and Services and Operations Management, including TOGAF, ITIL, COBIT, PMP and others.
