How did BIBF originate?
In the late 1970’s the then Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs set up a Higher Council of Training that subsequently set up a Specific Council for Training in Banking Sector, which was established upon Amiri Decree No. 20 of 1975, who in turn established a Centre for Training manpower in the banks. In 1981, the initial incarnation of BIBF was - The Bahrain Banking Training Centre (BBTC).
How many students come to BIBF annually?
As at the end of 2010 we had over 18,000 participants. We expect to achieve over 20,000 by the end of 2011. BIBF has grown by over 45% in the last 4 years.

BIBF’s education and professional development programmes cover all major business disciplines including Accounting, Banking, Insurance, Islamic Finance, IT, Management and Leadership expertise. BIBF also has a major emphasis in Academic and Executive development.
What languages are the courses offered in?
BIBF is primarily an English taught organisation; however we have a significant number of Arabic specific courses taught within the Centres for Insurance, Islamic Finance, Leadership and Management and Accounting.

Only Open Courses are covered by the members levy.

What is the Specific Council?
The Specific Council comprises Board members of the Council for Vocational Training (Banking Sector) which was established upon Amiri Decree No. 20 of 1975. It is made up of representatives of the public and private sector, and is Chaired by the CBB Governor. The BIBF Director is a member.

Are there car parks at BIBF?
Across the BIBF premises is a designated car park for 120 cars. There is also alternative parking across the road from BIBF specifically for students attending classes.
Does BIBF offer scholarships?
BIBF as an organisation does not offer scholarships. However, BIBF collaborates with major funding organisations and companies to sponsor specific programmes. Some of these organisations are TAMKEEN, HRD Fund, Waqf Fund, and the Ministry of Labour. Contact infodesk@bibf.com for more information.
